Human Fungi Relationships

This paper introduces collaborative survival and its impact on interactive artefact design. Three strategies - engagement, accommodation, and expansion - are identified to promote multi-species flourishing.

The researchers suggest that new human-nonhuman(animals, plants, microbes)  interactions are necessary for a better future. The paper proposes design recommendations for wearable devices that enhance human sensory abilities in the environment and suggests ways for other designers to adopt post-anthropocentric approaches.

In their paper, the authors discuss the relationship between humans and fungi and call attention to the interaction of fungi and non-human populations as a whole, so embodying the following principles:

•Improving vs. fundamentally changing lifestyles.
•Ambient Awareness
•Pervasive and Participatory Sensing

Discussion and reflection:

HCI can cross species boundaries, which is a novel perspective, and the use of interactive methods makes it possible to observe across time and space.
The paper's author designed various methods to enhance people's understanding of fungi through action and multi-sensory experiences. The art of attention can span time and space, inspiring our design to combine plants and commemorative photos. This promotes engagement, a sense of accomplishment, and family connection, as beautiful moments can bloom across time and space.
